OMEGA Megaquartz Genevé 1970s Daydate NOS
This Omega Quartz Ref. 196.0030 is an iconic piece of 1970s design, combining Omega’s hallmark quality with a stylishly bold look. The 39 mm case, in good vintage condition with sharp, crisp edges, exudes the charm of the era. The wide-set bezel gives this WRISTCLASSIC an impressive wrist presence, perfectly balanced by the clean and rare dial. Unlike most examples of this reference, which typically bear the “Megaquartz” marking, this dial simply states “Quartz,” making it a distinctive configuration and a rare find for collectors. The dial is in immaculate condition, with no visible signs of wear, and features a beautifully balanced Omega logo, indexes, and hands. The day-date display at 3 o’clock enhances its functionality without detracting from the watch’s overall aesthetic. Retaining its original crown and powered by an Omega Megaquartz 1310 movement, this timepiece runs reliably and keeps time well. The watch is completed with an original Omega stainless steel bracelet, adding a sleek, integrated look that’s as comfortable as it is stylish. With its slightly chunky build, this Omega Quartz is a quintessential 1970s timepiece—a true WRISTCLASSIC with timeless proportions, enduring style, and superb condition, ideal for daily wear and a standout in any collection.
OMEGA
Omega was founded in 1848 in La Chaux-de-Fonds by Louis Brandt. Out of this small watch manufacture grew a large company: In 1894, the famous 19-ligne pocket watch movement was developed and named “Omega”. Omega, as the final letter of the Greek alphabet, stands for the ultimate level in perfection and quality. In the 1930 the company entered into collaboration with the S.S.I.H. (Société Suisse pour l’Industrie Horlogère). Out of this collaboration the Swatch Group developed. Today, Omega is the flagship of this huge company. In 1932, Omega entered its partnership with the Olympics which continues till today. When in 1969 Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin accomplished the first moon landing there were equipped by Omega with the Speedmaster, and this so-called „Moonwatch“ is still regarded as one of the most significant watches in history.
