OMEGA Speedmaster Ref. 145.022-69 Meister double signed – 1969
Here we have a stunning OMEGA Speedmaster Ref. 145.022 from 1969, featuring a rare dial signed by Meister. In today’s climate, where Omega no longer issues extracts after the well-known Phillips auction scandal, how do you verify the authenticity of a Meister-signed Speedmaster? The answer lies in provenance. This particular piece was acquired from the original owner in my hometown of Konstanz. Given that Zurich is just a 50-minute drive from Konstanz, it’s easy to see where one would have purchased an Omega Speedmaster in 1969. After its initial purchase at Meister in Zurich, the watch was sold a few years later at the Konstanz Yacht Club to a close friend of the original owner (Mr. H.). I was fortunate to acquire it from Mr. H.’s son, preserving its rich history. This Speedmaster is a beautiful example of timeless design, featuring a crisp case in well-preserved vintage condition. The 40mm case and wide bezel give the watch an impressive presence on the wrist. The dial remains clean and well-maintained, showcasing the extremely rare double signature by Meister. The understated Omega logo, complemented by the elegantly balanced hands, creates a harmonious aesthetic. Powered by the reliable cal. 861 movement, the watch runs strong and keeps excellent time. The original Omega steel bracelet, which has been replaced over time, is also in great condition. This Speedmaster embodies everything a vintage chronograph enthusiast could hope for, with perfect proportions, timeless styling, and wearability that suits any occasion. Known as the “Moonwatch,” the Speedmaster gained iconic status when Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin wore it during the first moon landing in 1969. Even today, this piece remains one of the most historically significant watches ever created—a true WRISTCLASSIC.
