ROLEX Ref. 16233 Datejust Full Set LC 100 – 1990
There are many reasons why people buy vintage watches. Some like the look, others the technical side and still others are looking for unusual, rare timepieces. Another reason for buying a vintage timepiece is the story behind it. The reference 16233 is not rare. The design of the watch is classic, but nothing too extraordinary. But the story behind the watch is unique and documented as well as possible. The watch was bought on 9th of may in  1990 – this is evident from the handwritten receipt – from a jeweller in Esslingen, Germany. At that time, the watch cost 6250,00 DM, which is about 3000,00 €. A lot of money for a watch in those days. And yes if you went to buy yourself a Rolex in 1990, you would get a dsicount of 10% which equals 625,00 DM as written on the receipt. Just imagine going nowadys to a Rolex store and asking for a discount! This piece is a time capsule and has a beautiful story behind it. On top there is a very nice Rolex Datejust Ref. 16233 bicolor in great vintage condition with as stunning blue dial and in unpolished condition.
