A rare and striking early example of Rolex’s luxurious take on the iconic GMT-Master II. This Rolex GMT-Master II, reference 16718, dates to 1991 and features the highly sought-after and uncommon Serti dial – distinguished by diamond and sapphire hour markers set into a champagne sunburst dial. This piece is particularly special as it represents one of the earliest known 16718s fitted with a factory Serti dial, making it both collectible and historically significant within the GMT-Master lineage. The case and bracelet are crafted entirely from solid 18k yellow gold, offering substantial presence and unmistakable Rolex opulence. Both are in excellent condition, with sharp lines and minimal signs of wear. Notably, the watch is fitted with an older Rolex 7602 solid gold Oyster bracelet, dating to 1979, which complements the watch perfectly and adds a layer of vintage character and rarity. The 16718 houses the caliber 3185, offering independent GMT hand adjustment – a major technical evolution over the earlier GMT models. A rare find in this configuration and condition, this early Serti 16718 is a perfect blend of tool-watch heritage and refined luxury – a true collector’s piece for those who appreciate Rolex’s more opulent creations.
