UNIVERSAL GENEVE Polerouter Jet – 1950s
The Universal Genève Polerouter Jet is a stunning icon of 1950s watch design, celebrated for its timeless elegance and innovative engineering. This WRISTCLASSIC features a sharp, polished 34 mm case, embodying the sophisticated style of the era with its crisp edges and refined proportions. The dial, with its subtle patina, exudes vintage charm and character, enhancing the aesthetic appeal and making this Polerouter even more distinctive. With the simple UG logo, clean indexes, and beautifully designed hands, every element on the dial is meticulously balanced, contributing to a harmonious design. While the crown has been replaced over time, the watch still retains its authenticity and vintage allure. At its core is the celebrated microrotor automatic movement, running strong and ensuring reliable timekeeping—a technical hallmark that made UG famous and placed the Polerouter in horological history. The watch is paired with a handcrafted, unworn leather strap, which complements its vintage appeal. The Polerouter Jet is a rare and sought-after piece for collectors, particularly with its unique dial and UG’s signature microrotor movement. With its perfect proportions, timeless style, and rich heritage, this UG is more than just a watch; it’s a true WRISTCLASSIC that stands as a testament to Universal Genève’s legacy in fine watchmaking.
UNIVERSAL GENEVE
In 1894 in Le Locle Numa-Emile Descombes and Ulysse Georges Perret founded a watchshop and watch manufacture. In the early 20th century UG specialized in making chronographs. In the 1930s UG produced a wide range of different chronos, as for example the Compur- or Compax-series. Amongst other things UG developed in the 1950s the so called Microrotor-movement, which featured the watch called Polerouter in the 1950s and 1960s. The Polerouter and the Microrotor-movement are beside the lots of complicated Chronographs the most famous products by UG. In 1989 Universal Genève was bought by the group called Stelux.
