JAEGER LECOULTRE Memovox “tropical” – 1950s
This is a truly remarkable early example of the Jaeger-LeCoultre Memovox “automatic alarm,” powered by the groundbreaking Caliber 815, which debuted in 1956 as the world’s first automatic alarm movement. Not only does this watch boast a stylish vintage appeal, but it also holds significant horological importance, making it a prized collector’s item. The 37 mm case, in excellent vintage condition, gives this watch a substantial presence on the wrist, enhanced by a wide-set bezel. Its dial is the centerpiece, featuring a stunning caramelized patina that has developed evenly over time, lending it a unique, warm character. The minimalist Jaeger-LeCoultre logo, along with the beautifully proportioned indexes and hands, creates a harmonious and balanced aesthetic. True to its origins, the crowns are original and plain, as is characteristic of these early Memovox pieces. The alarm function operates perfectly, demonstrating the enduring reliability of Jaeger-LeCoultre’s engineering. Powered by the historic Caliber K815 movement, this Memovox runs smoothly and keeps time well. This is a classic late ’50s to early ’60s timepiece with timeless styling and in fantastic condition. It’s a true WRISTCLASSIC that blends elegance, innovation, and history in perfect proportion.
JAEGER LECOULTRE
Jaeger LeCoultre is one of the most known and respected manufactures of watches. Founded in 1833 by the Brothers Charles-Antoine and François-Ulysse LeCoultre in Vallée de Joux, Switzerland, Jaeger-LeCoultre had a huge input on the history of watchmaking. Starting with the famous “douplan”-movement to the “Reverso” up to the great complications and endless calendars Jaeger-LeCoultre left its mark in all the different sections of the watchmaking-history. The Jaeger-LeCoultre Memovox, with its revolutionary alarm function, was first introduced in 1949 and evolved over the next few decades.
